Play by Play Announcer:

Job Description: Play by Play Announcer must be able to describe the game play and explain what is happening to the listeners, while the game or event is in action.

Color Commentator: The color commentator takes over during the times when the game is not in action, to share personal knowledge, player statistics and game experiences.

Job Requirements for Color Commentator and Play by Play Announcer:

• Understand basic research skills to find up-to-date information on the latest local sports topics.
• Possess interpersonal skills to make interviewing guests, interacting with other broadcasters, and answering phone calls on air more comfortable.
• Know or be able to learn the technical skills to operate computers and audio editing equipment.

Sportscaster:

Job Description:

The sportscaster at Two Rivers communication will select, write, and deliver weekly written and on-air sportscasts on our two Northern neck stations, WIGO Country and Bay FM and our local news website MiddleneckNews.com

Typical sportscasts will be 3 to 4 minutes in duration and focus on local, regional, and statewide sports news.

The typical sportscast should be structured in order of priority:

1. Local Northern Neck Sports: Latest scores, rankings, highlights, and upcoming games
2. Regional Sports: Statewide teams, scores, rankings, highlights, and future games
3. National Sports: rarely included, but can include leading league teams, highlights.

Job Requirements:

• The ability to write sports news clearly in short paragraphs, short sentences, and plain language so radio listeners can understand.
• Understand basic research skills to find up-to-date information on the latest local sports topics.
