Youngkin proposes suspending gas tax

Gov. Glenn Youngkin is proposing emergency legislation to suspend Virginia’s gas tax for three months. According to News 8 the proposal will cost the Commonwealth about $437 million in transportation funding but the governor’s office says the fund has over $1 billion more revenue than anticipated this year. The measure would be considered when the General Assembly returns for a special session to pass the budget but there is no date set for the session.
