Youngkin Appointee Resigns Over Civil War Comments

An appointee to the Virginia Board of Historic Resources resigns over comments she made about Confederate statues, the Civil War and slavery. According to multiple sources Ann McLean made the remarks both before and after her appointment last month by Gov. Glenn Youngkin. The board considers nominations of historic sites for listing in the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. It also considers all new or proposed updates to new preservation easements and historical highway markers.
