Woman fatally shot on I85

A 19 year old woman from Chesterfield County was shot in the head while driving on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County. T’miya Murphy was driving a Kia Optima southbound on I85 mid-morning on August first, when her car was shot at by a passing vehicle near exit 63. The shooting led her to run off the road, and she hit the right shoulder. She later died from her injuries. The incident is not believed to be a case of road rage. As of Tuesday, Virginia State Police said it was too early to say if Murphy was targeted. While police continue to investigate Tuesday’s deadly interstate shooting, they ask for anyone who saw anything to come forward and contact the Virginia State Police at 804-609-5656.
