White Stone Grant Application Aimed At Storm-Water Issue

December 14, 2023 Local News

The White Stone Town Council has directed the Town Manager to move forward with a planning grant application to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development that they hope will help address storm-water issues. Specifically, the grant… if awarded… will address a drainage issue at the intersection of Rose Lane and Chesapeake Drive, which has been a problem for several years. The town previously received grant funding of $100,000 for work there, but a new evaluation by an engineer shows that the solution is not that simple, and a more intense study is needed. Now, according to the Rappahannock Record, the town is being advised by the state to close out the initial grant and reapply for a planning grant of up to $50,000 to hire an engineer to come up with a new storm-water plan and to identify a fix.
