Weekend Crash In Gloucester Proves Fatal To 39 Year Old Woman

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a tragic two-vehicle accident in Gloucester County on Saturday. Virginia State Police, along with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the serious incident on southbound Route 17 near a Wawa around 5:15 p.m. The collision involved a 1997 Acura CL sedan, which veered off the left side of the highway, overturned, and collided with a 2021 Ford EcoSport in the southbound lane. The driver of the Acura, 39-year-old Amber Velez, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old boy, a passenger in the Acura, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the hospital in Norfolk.
