Virginia’s Violent Victimization Rates Under The National Rate

The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics released its list of Criminal Victimization in the 22 Largest U.S. States between 2017 and 2019. Virginia is one of 7 states with rates of violent victimization that were lower than the national rate. Colorado, Arizona and Washington had violent victimization rates that were higher than the national rate. The rates were calculated using data from the first-ever National Crime Victimization Survey which covered subnational violent and property victimization.
