Virginia Labor Force Participation Nears Pre-Pandemic Level

Virginia’s labor force participation rate increased to 65.6% in February, the highest rate since February 2020’s pre-pandemic rate of 65.7%. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Local Area Unemployment report the labor force in Virginia increased by 17,618 to 4,505,193. Virginia’s unemployment rate of 3.2% was unchanged from January and remained below the national rate, which edged upward to 3.6% in February.
