VIMS Gets Federal Grant For Aquaculture Projects

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science received a grant from the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission for the Institute’s proposal to create a co-culture of native grazers species with established farmed bivalves. According to the Gazette-Journal the approximately $570,000 federal grant funds four projects to explore promising, but less commercially-developed, technologies for finfish and shellfish aquaculture. The projects are scheduled for completion in 2024.
