VEC Unemployment Claim Lawsuit Now Settled

The Virginia Employment Commission concludes its settlement in a lawsuit over slow unemployment claims processing by making a $200,000 payment to the legal aid groups who filed the suit, According to 8 News the settlement was reached last year, but in February the legal aid groups sought attorneys’ fees and agreed to a $200,000 payment after mediation on Wednesday n November the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission found VEC was unprepared to handle the onslaught of claims due to COVID-19.
