VDOT: Gwynn’s Island Bridge Repair Schedule

State Department of Transportation says you can expect delays on Route 223 Old Ferry Road this week as you’re going to or leaving Gwynns Island overnight as crews continue repair work on the bridge. Crews are repairing the movable swing span bridge over Milford Haven. Vehicle traffic will be stopped overnight. Vehicle traffic will be stopped at each bridge approach for up to 30 minute intervals between 11:00 PM tonight and 6:00 AM Tuesday, July 25th and from 11:00 PM Tuesday till 6:00 AM Wednesday, July 26th. Work is expected to be complete this fall. When the construction is done, the bridge’s ability to open on demand for marine traffic will be restored. Right now, there are six scheduled openings a day for large vessels. Those happen at 2:00 AM, 5 AM, 8 AM, 11 AM, 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
