VDOE Issues New Transgender Guidelines

Last week the Virginia Department of Education issued new transgender guidelines requiring students to use facilities marked for the gender they identify with and mandates that they file legal documents if they wish to be called by different pronouns. The new rules also require schools must “keep parents fully informed about all matters” related to a child’s health and social and psychological development. Teachers may not conceal material information about a student from their parents including information related to gender.
