VA Beagle Breeder Fined

In a landmark case, a company that bred beagles for medical research has been ordered to pay a staggering $35 million for neglecting thousands of dogs at its rural Virginia breeding facility. Envigo RMS and parent company Inotiv are banned from future breeding or sales. The investigation began in May 2022, unveiling acute distress among 450 animals. All in all, 4,000 beagles were rescued and put up for adoption. The companies reportedly raked in revenue of $16 million from selling 15,000 beagles.
