Tour Boat Being Converted In Heathsville Into Oyster Planter

A former tour boat is being refurbished in Heathsville into an oyster planter that will be used for Maryland’s oyster replentishing program. According to a story in the Northern Fisherman the tourboat named the Richard Lee is undergoing the conversion at Cockrell Marine Railway. It had carried passengers between Reedville and Smith Island in Maryland. Once finished the boat will hold 3,000 bushels of shell or seed oysters.
