Lancaster man charged with malicious wounding

Special release from Lancaster Sheriff’s Department

Sheriff Ronald D. Crockett reports that at about 9:40 a.m.  July 23, James Todd Kessler, 53 of Midlothian and White Stone, was arrested on one charge of felony aggravated malicious wounding.

The charge stems from an altercation at the tiki bar at Pelican Point Restaurant at Windmill Point Marina on July 19. Kessler is the man who was last seen with Claudine J. Gifford, 44, of Burgess, before her disappearance on the evening of July 6. The charge is unrelated to that investigation.

Kessler was ordered held without bond when he appeared before the magistrate. He made his initial court appearance a few hours later, which included a bond hearing. Kessler was again denied bond, and appealed that ruling to the circuit court, which will hear the bond appeal on Friday, July 25.
