The Lancaster Players next show is called “Martini, a musical celebration of the cocktail”.
Featuring Ken Sparks
Directed by Randal Tyler
Musical Direction by Jan Williams and Ken Sparks
The Story
An original comic musical revue with American song classics by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Jules Styne, Comden and Green, and Paul Simon, some familiar modern songs and swing jazz. Additional original music will include “The History,” an amusing chronology of the martini in four songs, written and performed by local artist/composer extraordinaire Ken Sparks. Three other amusing, original tunes, “Dirty,” “Shaken Not Stirred,” and “One Martini, Two Martinis, Three Martinis… Floor” are written by Randal Tyler.
Comedy touches include: the dysfunctional singing group The Olive Sisters, Eb and Flo’s Redneck Martini Demonstration, When Gin Met Vermouth — a comic sketch featuring over 60 songs, and a male comedy team joking through the ages. There are also famous quotes, an audience sing-a-long and participation, and a Cosmopolitan quiz with the ladies and the men.
Cast: Ray Britt, Scott Colston, Juli Ghiselin, Amy Lewis, Susan Robertson, Ken Sparks, Julia Tilley and Sandie Turner.
The Lancaster Playhouse, White Stone, VA Tickets are $20 each. Complimentary snacks, cabaret seating at tables and a cash bar are offered.
