It’s been a month since a fire destroyed several residences and businesses on Prince St. in Tappahannock and the recovery work is just beginning. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch the damaged area has been fenced off while insurance companies complete their work. There is no timetable for the rubble to be removed, though town officials hope it will begin soon. Essex County’s commissioner of the revenue Thomas M. Blackwell says damage is estimated at $2.5 million.
