Summer Program Begins at Boys & Girls Club June 23rd

Registration Now Underway

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck will be kicking off its 8-week summer session on June 23, ending on August 15. Participating youth will be able to arrive mornings at 7:30 a.m. and leave by 5:30 p.m. each weekday. Breakfast, lunch and a midafternoon snack will be provided to all who attend.

Cost of the program for currently non-registered youth is a one-time Club summer/fall membership fee of $25 and a weekly summer activity fee of $20. For current registered members the registration fee of $25 is waved. The program is open to youth 6 to 18.
“This year’s summer program promises to be the most exciting ever,” says Executive Director Phillip Mumford. “Together with key partner EYPC (Empowering Youth for Positive Change) and community partners such as the YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, several churches and many other organizations, we have planned a schedule packed with new outdoor and skill-building activities, sports, games, fitness classes, field trips, and educational projects aimed at combatting learning loss over the summer months. But most of all we want our youth participants to have FUN!”

Four EYPC- counselors will be on hand for four hours per day on four days each week, working one-on-one and in small groups with youth who may need mentoring on a variety of social and behavioral issues.

Summer field trips for youth 6 to 12 include the Virginia Living Museum in Hampton; the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond; Stan’s Skateland in Montross;  Agecroft Hall, a Tudor Estate in Richmond; the RCC/Glenn’s Campus, and much, much more!
For the teens, field trips include University of Richmond; the Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach; Kings Dominion; a Tangier Island cruise; a rock climbing expedition; river rafting; and Fredericksburg attractions.
