Signatures And Vetoes

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has signed into law a suite of bills aimed at combating hate crimes and discrimination. The governor emphasized the importance of defending religious freedom and ensuring Virginians are not targeted due to their religion, race, or ethnicity. Also among the legislation signed is a measure to create civil penalties for shop owners who fail to disclose the sale of invasive plants. The governor also vetoed several bills related to climate change education and access to court records for research, citing redundancy and concerns over individual rights. Lawmakers will reconvene in mid-April to address any remaining legislation and budget amendments.
