Police are asking for your help in tracking down the driver of a white pickup truck following a hit-and-run accident in Dutton Saturday night that has left a Mathews County man in the intensive care unit at Riverside Regional Hospital.
It seems that 50 year old Herbert Warren Dixon, was riding on his 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle between 10:15 and 10:30 p.m. when the accident occurred . Virginia State police say that two friends on a second motorcycle were headed east toward Mathews on Buckley Hall Road when the oncoming pickup truck made a left-hand turn in front of them onto Windsor Road, causing Dixon to hit the truck.
Impact was against the bed of the truck on the passenger’s side near the place where the bed and the cab come together. Dixon was thrown backward, and the truck left the scene without stopping. The driver of the second cycle said there was no chance the pickup truck driver didn’t know he had been hit.
State Police say no one was able to identify the driver or get a license plate number, but there are some credi-ble leads in the case, which is being investigated as a felony hit and run. Paint from the motorcycle, which appeared to be dark blue and silver in color, might be on the truck
