A litter cleanup event will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon in the Guinea Road area.
Depending on the number of people who turn out to lend a hand, the cleanup may include other areas as well.
Saturday’s effort will be the first cleanup to be jointly sponsored by the Abingdon Ruritan Club and Gloucester’s Clean Community Committee. Members of both organizations will participate, and they say they hope to see at least 50 community members show up to lend a hand this Saturday morning.
In addition to people to pick up trash along the roads, they also say they need volunteers with pickup trucks and drivers to haul the litter to a convenience center.
The Abingdon Ruritan Club will also provide a picnic lunch for everyone who helps that morning.
