A well known and highly regarded man who spent almost 50 years with the Town of Tappahannock Police Department, has died. Woodford L. Johnson… more commonly known as “Woody”… retired in 2019. He joined the local police department when he returned home from a tour in Vietnam back in 1971 as a patrol officer. He was later named town sergeant before being promoted to lieutenant in 1995… a rank that he held until his retirement. Johnson was the recipient of a U.S. House of Representatives Resolution recognizing his service.
