Protect Virginia’s Forest And Your Wallet When Using Firewood This Fall

If you are planning to use firewood this fall the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services encourages you to take steps to protect the commonwealth’s forest ecology and your wallet. The department recommends buying firewood at a location close to where you intend to burn it. Anyone traveling from one location to another should not carry firewood to their destination unless it is heat-treated and certified. Also be sure to measure the wood to ensure you are receiving full value.
