Pirates Accused Of Murdering Virginia Couple Now In Custody

Three escaped inmates from the eastern Caribbean island of Grenada have been charged in connection with the murders of a couple from here in Virginia whose catamaran they hijacked. The 3 now face charges including capital murder, escaping lawful custody, housebreaking, robbery and kidnapping. One of the men was also charged with one count of rape, according to The Royal Grenada Police Force. The men are now being held in prison until their hearing later this month. They are accused of escaping from a police holding cell on Feb. 18 and hijacking a catamaran owned by Ralph Henry and Kathy Brandel of Hampton, Virginia while they were aboard. Authorities said they believe the couple was thrown overboard after the attack. Their bodies have not been found.
