Lancaster pig trial delayed

A Lancaster County trial over pigs has been delayed. Last week, a bench trial began against defendant Janice Baylor. Her neighbors have long complained about the pigs that she keeps at her property. Since the beginning of 2021, more than 40 complaints have been filed regarding loose animals. Late last year, seven residents joined in filing a formal complaint in Lancaster County Circuit Court to have the situation declared a public nuisance. That prompted the forming of the special grand jury to hear the evidence back in February. The grand jury this year returned a formal complaint against loose animals and for not maintaining proper fencing.

Trial before a judge began last week, But right before that bench trial was supposed to end, Baylor demanded to instead have her case heard before a jury of her peers.
