Park Concerns

During a meeting last week, Mathews County supervisor Janine Burns questioned County Administrator Mindy Moran about work being done at the site of the future Mathews Heritage Park in Moon.

It came about following some concerns that were expressed by some property owners adjacent to the park concerning the activity there.

Specifically, they were concerned that some workers and others would try to access the site via a driveway, which they say is a private driveway that they own.

The residents also questioned the creation of a public park at the site, saying the sheriff’s office wouldn’t be able to monitor usage of the site at all times and that having a public park there would decrease the value of their property.
