The new board of supervisors in Northumberland County has hit the ground running, and is getting a lot done so far. County leaders received a request from Treasurer Pam King to consider changing the due date for county taxes from December 5 to November 5. The earlier date according to the Treasurer, is needed to move the date away from the holidays, for the county to get the revenue in a little sooner, and to have more time to process delinquencies. The board voted unanimously to proceed with a public hearing on the matter. In another matter, the board voted unanimously to approve a resolution to increase emergency medical services billing rates which have remained unchanged since 2018. According to the Rappahannock Record, the board also approved changing the EMS exemption scale.
