Northumberland student wins RT-D spelling bee

A 13 year old Northumberland middle school student made it through more than 55 rounds to win the Richmond Times-Dispatch spelling bee last Saturday. According to the paper, Trey Felton correctly spelled “corollary” to take the top prize in a more than two hour event, that saw all but one competitor eliminated in the first round. Felton received a $1500 college scholarship. He now has to the Scripps national spelling bee it takes place in Washington DC this June.
