Northumberland Seeks Grant

Northumberland County is taking aim at a $50,000 planning grant from the Department of Housing and Community Development to pay for a countywide housing assessment that county leaders hope will lead to larger block grants for home upgrades and replacement. County Supervisors are in agreement about the importance of the grant they hope to get, and have unanimously voted in favor of the effort. But before the County can get a block grant, it must first be approved for a planning grant that will provide the funding to assess and map the number of substandard homes in Northumberland and where they’re located. The application for the planning grant must be submitted by December 15 and the hope is to get a response within about a month.
