The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors will reevaluate an ordinance prohibiting people from transporting, possessing, or carrying loaded shotguns or rifles in vehicles on public streets, roads, or highways within the county. According to the Northumberland Echo the ordinance was originally based on a Virginia law which was repealed in 2004. The board may repeal the county ordinance so that hunters won’t be required to remove all shells from their firearms, including the magazines, while traveling on public roadways.
