No Tax Changes For Mathews Residents

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors decided to maintain the current tax rates for the upcoming fiscal year, following a recent special meeting. Supervisor Mike Walls proposed lowering the personal property tax rate while increasing the real estate tax rate to offset the loss. However, the board unanimously voted to keep rates unchanged. County leaders say the decision aims to maintain consistency in revenue collection while addressing concerns about taxing second-home owners.
