The Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission is asking the state to address failures at the George P. Coleman Bridge that caused 2 shutdowns last July. According to the Gazette-Journal the commission wants the DOT initiate a comprehensive overhaul of the bridge’s systems using money that were designated to the Special Structures Fund in the most recent state budget. The request was made after commissioners heard a report from Robert Crockett of Advantus Strategies regarding overheating and mechanical failure at the bridge.
