A preliminary report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board regarding the fatal plane crash in Topping last weekend, does not show any initial mechanical problems with the aircraft.
According to the report, nothing was found to be wrong with the engine or airframe, however two engine-monitoring instruments have been sent to a laboratory for further examination.
The crash, which killed both the pilot and passenger, happened last Sunday just before 5pm in an open field off of Lockley’s Creek Road behind Eckhard’s restaurant.
According to the NTSB, the plane, a 1968 Cessna 150J, had just departed Hummel Field. No flight plan had been filed. The report says weather was not an issue.
