Miyares Announces $391.5 Million Settlement with Google

Attorney General Jason Miyares announced that he, along with 39 other attorneys general reached a $391.5 million settlement with Google over accusations of misleading consumers about their location tracking practices relating to Google Account settings. This is the largest multi-state attorney general privacy settlement in the history of the U.S, and Virginia will receive over $10,7 million from the settlement. Authorities say even a limited amount of location tracking data can expose a person’s identity and routines and can be used to infer personal details.
