Missing The search was suspended late last night for a person who authorities say may have fallen from a boat which was found adrift in the Rappahannock River on Thursday.
Search crews from both the Coast Guard and the Navy combed the waters for the missing boater after someone called just before 10 Thursday morning to report an unmanned, partially submerged ten foot aluminum skiff that was adrift with only a fishing pole aboard.
A 25-foot response boat was dispatched from the Coast Guard’s station in Mathews County. Helicopter aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Naval Station Nor-folk also were called in to help search.
The Coast Guard suspended the search around 6 pm Thursday for the small boat that has a Virginia registration number and the name “Quachica” on it.
If you think you know who it may belong to, or if you have any information, you are asked to call the Coast Guard at 757–638-6637.
