Mathews VFD Gets Hazmat Unit

The Mathews Volunteer Fire Department now has a hazardous materials response unit. According to the Gazette-Journal the county purchased a trailer that was converted into a space with readily-accessible storage for the equipment needed to handle a hazmat incident. Area businesses donated materials for the conversion and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management also helped in building the unit. It will be stored for now indoors at New Point Station 5.
