Mathews County Public Schools Superintendent Announces Retirement

Mathews County Public Schools is looking for a new superintendent now that Nancy Welch announced she’ll be retiring from that post effective Sept. 1. According to the Gazette-Journal the school board begins the process next week to find Welch’s successor. Welch has been with the division for over a quarter-century and has been superintendent for the last 8 years. She served in a number of different roles, including the division’s director of testing and education information management system administrator.
