Mathews County Planning Commission Rejects Speaker Invitation

The Mathews County Planning Commission rejects a motion to have an author address the commission and the board of supervisors on his views on private property rights. According to the Gazette-Journal the motion made by Tricia Stall was to invite Tom DeWeese whose writings paint environmental guidelines as a socialist attack on personal property rights and a war on free enterprise. Commissioner Doug Wilton said a planning commission meeting was not the proper venue for such a talk.
