Mathews County Gets Grant To Preserve Marriage Licenses

Mathews County receives a he Library of Virginia Court Records Preservation Program grant so the County Circuit Court can preserve marriage license records contained in four volumes, covering the years 1895 to 1921. The Gazette-Journal reports the $35,785 grant will pay to digitize the licenses so they can be made available to the public through the clerk’s online records management system. Once the documents are prepared for scanning the work will be done by Kofile Technologies Inc. at its Greensboro, North Carolina division.
