Mathews County Board of Supervisors Delays Deeding Public Hearing

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors decides not to set a date for a public hearing on deeding a piece of the Court Green to two private organizations. According to the Gazette-Journal supervisor Mike Walls wanted to schedule a date but his motion failed after extensive discussion which at times was quite passionate. The board was considering donating the property under the Confederate monument to the local chapters of the Sons of the Confederacy and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
