“Little Richmond” Celebrates Centennial

Gloucester Banks, affectionately dubbed “Little Richmond,” celebrated its centennial anniversary earlier this month. Founded in 1924 by a group from Richmond, this close-knit community of 23 cottages has remained a beacon of tradition and unity. Generations of families still reside in the same cottages, fostering strong bonds through yearly Fourth of July festivities and everyday camaraderie. Central to their community spirit is a historic pier overlooking the York River, rebuilt five times since 1925, serving as a gathering place for shared stories and socializing. As they mark a century, Gloucester Banks looks forward with optimism, preserving its timeless charm for future generations.
