Lancaster Capital Plan Outlined

In Lancaster, the planning commission recently tackled a $76.7 million capital plan for the next five years. The plan includes approximately $70 million for constructing a new junior/senior high school and $4.3 million for public access sites. This leaves $2.3 million for other requested projects. For the year 2025, schools are seeking $198,000 in new projects, including security grant matching funds and school bus replacement. Interestingly, due to bus driver shortages, they may opt for vans that don’t require a commercial driver’s license. The sheriff’s office has requested $169,858 for capital projects, covering upgrades to the jail’s HVAC system, cameras, and patrol vehicles. Additional requests for the upcoming fiscal year involve courthouse access system updates, 911 call handling equipment, software upgrades, and social services building parking lot repaving.
