It’s now official. Ben Kiser, the retiring Gloucester County Public School System Superintendent, will become the executive director of the Virginia Association of School Superintendents upon his retirement on July 1.
The Daily Press says the superintendents association made the announcement Thursday, saying Kiser will replace Steven R. Staples, who was recently appointed by Gov. Terry McAuliffe as Virginia’s Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Kiser has been superintendent in Gloucester since 2003. He started his education career as an indus-trial arts teacher at Greensville County High School in Emporia, Va., in 1974.
