On Monday, the Kilmarnock Planning Commission voted unanimously in favor of recommending that the town council amend the planned unit development zoning ordinance to promote residential growth in Kilmarnock. It means the town could see a spurt in the growth of multi-family developments. According to the Rappahannock Record, the changes that are being proposed… if enacted… would mean an increase the maximum density from five single-family dwellings permitted per acre to seven, and 20 multifamily dwellings per acre instead of the current 10. There area also more proposed changes affecting minimum setbacks and lot sizes.
