Juror Duty Phone Scam Increasing In Virginia

A new phone scam is working its way throughout Virginia. The scammer pretends to work for a Court, a Sheriff’s Office, or a prosecutor, and says that the person they are calling failed to appear for jury duty or respond to a subpoena. The scammer says the person can pay the fine over the phone or be subject to being arrested and brought before a judge. Officials say a Court, Sheriff’s Deputy or prosecutor will never call and ask for money over the phone.
