Irvington Planing Commission Looking At Chicken Ordinances

The Town of Irvington Planning Commission is endorsing ordinance modifications to accommodate backyard chickens. According to the Rappahannock Record a commission member expressed concerns about how keeping chickens is in violation of existing codes and ordinances. Zoning administrator Justin Nelson says the town council is reviewing many ordinances including those pertaining to livestock. The commission recommends the town’s ordinance oversight committee should look into possible changes.
