Huge New Manufacturing Plant To Mean Hundreds Of Jobs In Chesapeake

Chesapeake is set to become a key player in the offshore wind industry with LS GreenLink USA’s announcement of a $681 million subsea cable manufacturing plant. The 750,000-square-foot facility, planned for the Deep Water Terminal Site, will feature a 660-foot-tall tower, making it the tallest building in Virginia. The project will create over 300 jobs and support global offshore wind projects. The site in Chesapeake was chosen over sites in 14 other states. Construction is slated to begin in early 2025, with operations expected to start in 2028.
