The holiday season means a lot of special hours and even some closings for some offices and public facilities. A few reminders now… All courts will close at noon on Friday and remain closed through Christmas Day. Local courts will be back in session on Tuesday, December 26th. All Gloucester County offices will close at noon on Friday and remain closed through Tuesday. In Mathews County, all county offices will also be closed on Friday at noon, and they will reopen on Wednesday, December 27th. One note though, the Mathews County Treasurer’s office and Commissioner of the Revenue’s office will both be closed all day on Friday and remain closed through Wednesday, with both of them reopening on Thursday, Dec. 28. Gloucester libraries will close at noon on Friday and remain closed through Tuesday. Mathews Memorial Library will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Mathews schools and Gloucester schools will both remain closed through New Year’s Day, and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2. ABC stores in both counties will close at 5pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day. They will reopen normal hours on Tuesday. The Mathews Transfer Station will close at 1pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed through Christmas Day. They will reopen at 9am on Tuesday. Waste Management facilities in Gloucester will be closed on Christmas Day only. DMV customer service centers will be closed on Saturday and Monday, and post offices in both counties will be closed on Christmas Day.
