Gwynn’s Island Brdge Work Starts Aug. 19

Today the Virginia Department of Transportation begins work on the Gwynn’s Island bridge which will result in both vehicle and marine traffic delays. Bridge openings are halted so only watercraft with a clearance of 11 feet vertically and 80 feet horizontally can travel through the area. Temporary traffic signals will be operating at each bridge approach as only one lane will be open. The work is to wrap up by next April.
