Games Of Skill Or Chance?

Virginia lawmakers have voted to lift a ban on skill games, but details remain unclear as the House and the Senate each are taking different approaches to regulating the slot-like machines. We’ve all seen them. Many of us have played them. The games that allow you to bet money and win cash have appeared at many Virginia convenience stores, restaurants, and truck stops. Manufacturers of the machines say they are games of skill, not games of chance. Now, proposals to clarify their legality and then to regulate them have passed in both chambers of the General Assembly, although there are still some major differences to be ironed out in the two bills that passed in both the state senate and the House of Delegates. The House version of the bill has tougher regulations on the machines, aimed at limiting heir profitability. The Senate plan is the plan that the skill game industry prefers. They say it offers fewer restrictions.
